Let us now discuss some preparation tips for CLAT section-wise.



1. English Language

- Areas of Assessment: Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and verbal ability.

- Tips for Preparation:

- Reading Comprehension: Keep good practice of passages regularly. Summarize each paragraph so that you get what is written all about.

- Grammar: Learn simple grammar rules. Practice exercises on error detection and sentence correction.

- Vocabulary: Learn a few new words every day. Word cards or applications like Anki can be used to make such vocabulary.

- Practice: Solve past year papers and practice online quizzes.


2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs

- Static GK, Current events, Key national and international news, Dates of importance, Events.

- Study Tips:

- This will help you to stay informed; read the leading dailies such as The Hindu and The India Express, subscribe to news websites, and download news apps.

- Monthly Magazines: Monthly current affair magazines to which you refer (such as Pratiyogita Darpan).

- Revise: Write down important things happening and revise them periodically.

- Static GK: Introduce standard GK books like Lucent's General Knowledge on history, geography, and important organisations.


3. Legal Reasoning

- Foci: General principles of law, understanding, and application; Critical thinking, problem solving.

- Preparation Tips:

- Basics: Awareness of fundamental legal provisions and terms. Utilize the basic learning resources, namely, Bare Acts and legal dictionaries.

- Case Studies: Solve as many case-based questions to understand the implementation of propositions.

- Current Legal News: Keep yourself abreast of the latest in legal developments and the most important judicial pronouncements.

- Mocks: Keep re-taking the mocks at regular intervals to increase speed and accuracy.


4. Inductive and Deductive Reasoning

- Areas of Focus: Analytical reasoning, logical sequences, patterns, and critical thinking.

- Solve Practice Puzzles: Periodic solving of puzzles, series and pattern-based questions.
