This was my first read on any story underlying the inner conflicts of the American society between the white supremacy and the black lives . About events that America has to explain and resolve .
The Opression of racism has been there and this book touches an aspect of the same in an unexpected place - the reformatory !
How Blacks have been wrongly treated , how it was never an equal society , how one can make laws but laws don't touch the mindsets .
America too has a lot to prove to make the house in order .
A bit of difficult read for me for some of the words used were difficult to understand .
Pithy and to the point book with no time spent on extra description of scenes or facial expressions or wall paintings like so many thick volume novels .
If you ask me - Yes you must keep this one in your reading list .
